Winning
As somewhat of an armchair athlete, Olympians (medal winning or not) never cease to impress me. This year, I was blown away by speed skater Apolo Ohno. So close to winning, he had a call against him that cost him the gold. His ability to let it slide with a smile was as inspiring as his athletic skill.

You know I’m not a big Elton John fan but I am a big fan of how people mature. I call it, “The Journey.” It’s one we all go through and some mature sooner than others. You have probably heard the phrase, “To soon old and to late smart.” Elton’s story is the typical story of rock star excess with drugs, sex and rock and roll. The difference is Elton matured.

Every day I open the papers, listen to several radio talk shows and watch the TV and most of what I hear reveals people and a system that has ceased to work very well. Yet from time to time I find gems of inspiration amongst the madness.
